COVID Support donation to Sri Lanka

The Tisarana Sri Lanka Buddhist Association and it’s members generously donated respiratory support equipment(regulators and cannulas) to fellow Sri Lankans receiving treatment for the Covid-19 (for the second time) at the Panadura General Hospital on 22nd of November. There were several other organizations from Norway and Australia who joined hands together with Tisarana for this worthy cause. This led to the donation of equipment (total value around 100,000NOK) to 23 hospitals in Sri Lanka, and the Tisarana Sri Lanka Buddhist Association and it’s members donated equipment worth about 35,000NOK to Badulla and Kantale Base Hospitals. The Tisarana donation has a market value of 80,000NOK (approximately Rs. 1.8 million) in Sri Lanka. The equipment donated to the Badulla General Hospital will be further distributed to other hospitals in the Uva Province.

We would like to thank our member Harsha Ratnaweera, Renuka Wijesekera and Sabri Rasik for their hard work throughout importing of these equipment from China until distributing them to Sri Lankan hospitals. We would also like to thank Danushka Parakramasinghe, a resident of Sri Lanka, who coordinated the Badulla and Kantale General Hospitals and the Tisarana Sri Lanka Buddhist Association. We would also like to thank the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Norway, Jeffrey Cooray, and his staff for their diplomatic assistance in bringing this consignment to Sri Lanka.
